Does any of your gyms recycle? If so do you know the process? I'm not a green fanatic but I hate to see the amount of plastic bottles thrown out at my CP's gym each night!

In Germany, you pay 25 EuroCents per Bottle extra at purchase and you only get them back if you bring them back to a store.
As much as I hate it, it surely makes you think twice before throwing your bottles away.

I agree 100%, there are a TON of bottles and cans in the trash each night when I am at the gym and I have often suggested and mentioned recycling but it just does not happen. It's disappointing but someone would have to take responsibility to handle it and I just don't see that happening at the gym.
That said, I am a recycling freak at our house when it comes to paper, plastic and cans.

$.25 is a decent surcharge. That would greatly reduce the amount if plastic bottles we buy...

We have 2 recycling bins and we turn it in for cash.

It's a great idea and I wish our gym did it. It just takes one staff member to be willing to oversee it. I think I'm going to suggest it when cp goes to practice tonight.

There is a special garbage can in our gym for cans. It has this lever thing on the top to crush the can then it slides through a slot into the can. The cans are then recycled for cash as a fundraiser for our special needs team. I thought it was a brilliant idea!

There are also bins on the wall next to our deli to sort items for recycling.

Maryland Twisters has many recycling bins in the gym. It's amazing how fast all the bottles and cans add up!

We don't own our facility we rent a gymnastics gym, however it's pretty common for people to do bottle drives as fundraisers to collect money for their teams.

When I was in college we used the recycling to raise funds for our grad.

Yeah we have regular bins, white bins for paper and cardboard and green bins for bottles. We don't sell cans so we tend not to have them in the gym. Someone takes them to the dump and recycles them once a week. It's amazing how quickly they fill up!

We've tried, but too many lazy people end up throwing their general waste in the recycling bins and being generally disrespectful. The amount of half empty bottles I have to pick up after every team is infuriating.
