Okay, so I have cheered competitively all my live have all the skills standing/running up to a layout step out and was working on my full. After HS I decided I wanted to give cheer a break since it was literally all I ever did.. Eat, Sleep, Breathe cheerleading. After stopping for a year and a half I really miss it and I am going to try out for my college. I would get in easily with the skills I "had" but now I am worried I wont be able to do those skills anymore since its been so long :( I have 3 months to prepare so I am going to get into tumbling and see if I can still do my skills. I went outside today in the grass and threw a tuck just to see if I could and stuck it perfectly so that gave me hope.. I am just wondering if 3 months is enough time for me to be able to get my skills back fully?

Would not say it is impossible but I would recommend finding a gym where you can take some classes or private lessons and tumble in a safe environment. Good luck.

You definitely have enough time, just take it easy getting back into your tumbling because you don't wanna stress your body out.. it's not used to all the strain you used to put on it anymore, so if you try and throw your skills again too soon you may end up getting injured. Condition a lot and work with a coach who knows what they're doing and you'll be fine!

If you can land a tuck for the first time in grass after that long then I'm guessing it won't take long in the gym to get back into tumbling. Good luck! :)
