Any good tips for balancing HS cheer and All-star practice and competition schedules? Have you had issues with coaches, schedules, etc?

Let both coaches know your competition and practice schedules as soon as you get them to avoid conflicts. Take opportunities to do your homework when you can (either to/from practice or school, in between classes, etc.) and manage your time well.

Yes coaches communicating is key! Make sure each coach knows your schedule and you figure out a way to trade off practices if there is a conflict. If the coaches are used to working with high school coaches, they will understand. Some high school coaches are very strict and don't negotiate. Make sure you get them to talk and work things out so that you can do both!

One had one girl on JV last year (I was on varsity) who wa also on an all star team and we had one competition that over lapped. It was the one that her all star gym hosted an they didn't want her to miss it so I think we went to that one instead of the one we had previously planned on and didn't have to pay anything for it. Otherwise there were no major conflicts.
