BlueCat I'm starting this thread in the hopes that you'll give us all some insight into how Cheer Athletics was able to pull off such an amazing feat. If I was a journalist, I'd be falling all over myself to find out the answers to some basic questions:
WHO were the people responsible for making this happen? I want to know more about the people behind the scenes.
WHAT were the key factors involved in creating numerous winning teams? I don't believe that you just got lucky and came home with multiple World titles.
HOW? Just how?

I may have missed an article where you were already interviewed for this, but as of yet I have seen nothing but a few mentions about it. I'm insatiably curios about it all. Of course, maybe I'm the only one who cares.....

Waits patiently for answers. These are good questions!

And I would like to know what they believe is the key to their success (or multiple keys to success, I suppose). I coach for a program that is small and has only been round for 5-6 years. I would love to build a tradition as strong as theirs...

I know he details a lot of their philosophies in the CA Rumors thread. I just have so many questions about this particular season. I know studying scoresheets (and being able to compare numerous teams per level) is an advantage because they can see what consistently scores well, and what doesn't, in each level.
But the Worlds scoresheet isn't even used until Worlds. That's where I am blown away. I don't have Worlds teams but I know it takes us a few tries to get it perfect on any scoresheet--and even then it's not actually perfect because the panels are always so different.

If Brad and Jody ever decide to write a book, I'll be the first in line to buy it.

I'd pull a HP7 and stand in line waiting for it, then start reading on my way to pay..

Is a majority of your staff athletes that have aged out that know the "CA" way? Or do you train your staff or attend any coaches training/seminars you believe help better your staff?

How much do you think passion and competitive nature of your coaches play a factor compared to knowledge and know how?

The vast majority of our coaches are former (or current) athletes from the program. In fact, it is pretty rare that someone joins the staff who has not had fairly extensive experience with us already.

We do not typically attend any coaches training or seminars, although we did have Debbie Love come in one year and she was very helpful.

Passion, professionalism, and having the right mix of personality types are all important. Knowledge and know-how typically come from years of experience with the program.

So you grow your own coaches and handpick the ones that fit the best. I'm actually very glad to hear this because I've been following that philosophy for a couple of years now.
I couldn't ever get a good feel for a new hire until I'd worked with them for awhile and that caused me to have coaching staff turnover every year.

This is good news for me!
