Journal Of The American Academy Of Pediatrics Wants Cheerleading To Be A Sport

The Journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics has just released a report that encourages cheerleading to be a sport and for schools and states to mandate rules set forth by governing bodies (they use NCAA and NFHS as an example).

It's a good read and addresses the injury rates and proposes several precautionary recommendations. While I don't agree with all of them I think this is an important step forward.
