Condition, condition, condition. Then repeat!! :) We did a top 10 skills when I was in school. Things like leap frog jumps, lunges, squats, burpees, crunches, splits, etc. to get us in better shape. We would do then every lunch hour, for about 20 minutes and we had killer jumps that year. And keep practicing your jumps too. The more you do them the better they get
 
what are some ways (besides stretching) to help get your legs higher in your jumps?
Thanks for the help, my daughter has been practicing jumps for two years and she has an incredibly high tuck which leads me to think she has solid core strength? However, I swear her jumps have gotten worse, any thoughts, suggestions?

Cp just started using these along with tons of stretching and jumps with ankle weights. Jumps have always been her weakness but the combo of the above have already made a difference and it's really only been a week she's been seriously working on them.
 
I found that sitting in a straddle and lifting one of the legs up and back down has help my jumps. I also agree with the ankle weight idea. Hope this helps you improve your jumps. :)
