Hi, my school is a charter school and we do not have football, so naturally we don't have a real cheerleading team (also because we don't have funding). This year we started a "spirit squad" of sorts, but it's basically a small cheer team. I have a few questions:

1. Tips on how to not be embarrassed? Kids can be mean.
2. Is it normal to cheer at volleyball games?
3. What's a normal number of cheerleaders to send to a game? We have 14 total.

Thanks!

I think a spirit squad is a great idea!
1. Tips on not being embarrassed- use crowd pleasing things! Work on cheers that are fun and precise, you could try some stunting if you have the proper coach. Stunting is always really impressive so try to work on some cool skills. If you have any tumblers make sure to highlight them have them do a back tuck or back handspring on the sidelines!
2.I think it’s completely normal to cheer at girls volleyball games our school does!
3.I would send all of your team to games. Normally everyone in the group comes and supports your team!
Tip- I would definitely do some funding to get real uniforms that are cute and look real. Uniforms make you feel like a team!

Hi there! I totally get where you’re coming from, and it’s awesome that you’re building a spirit squad—starting somewhere is what matters!

If you’re looking for support and resources to grow and strengthen your squad, you might want to check out Cheer Builder. Cheer Builder offers virtual resources designed for small teams just like yours, covering everything from chants and stunts to confidence-building techniques (trust me, they help when the crowd gets tough!). They can give you a big boost without needing a big budget, and it’s all online, making it super convenient. www.cheerbuilder.com

To answer your questions:

1. Confidence Tips: Remember, cheerleading is about bringing positivity to the game and lifting up your school spirit. Kids can be harsh, but keep focusing on the fun and energy you bring. Celebrate every little win with your team!

2. Cheering for Volleyball: Absolutely! Cheering at volleyball games is a great way to support your school and bring that pep to other sports.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions—I’d be happy to help! And good luck!
