What skills are needed to max out each category in every level? What do you do to increase your scores as the season progresses?

if you would want a rough break down, i could probably do it...

level 1
tumbling:
standing- majority multiple back walkovers.
running- combination passes into back walkovers (majority).
jumps- two to three jumps connected to a forward roll (majority).

stunts:
as many single based stunts as possible (either at thigh level or off of the knee).
three strong body positions
as many prep cradles as possible
and a creative transition into the any of the stunts. (i.e.: express ups, tick tocks, quarter ups.)
extended straddle sits

pyramid:
as many extended two legged stunts as possible
prep level body positions, connected by someone on the ground (considered a pyramid, not a stunt).
creative transitioning. (i.e.: falls to stomach, falls to back.)

dance/choreo:
level changes! and lots of them!
tight clean transitions.
visual transitions in and out of sections.
originality of skills.

level 2
tumbling:
standing- majority standing back handsprings
combination passes ending in handsprings.
running- combination passes into handsprings (majority).
jumps- two to three jumps connected to a pause, and then handspring (majority).

stunts:
as many single based stunts as possible (either at prep level).
three strong body positions
as many extension cradles as possible
and a creative transition into the any of the stunts. (i.e.: express ups, tick tocks, half ups.)
quarter turning cradles, half downs (bumped down).

pyramid:
as many extended one legged stunts as possible, connected to prep or below.
creative transitioning. (i.e.: falls to stomach, falls to back. leap frogs, tick tocks, express ups to extended level.)
"release" moves caught in a cradle.

dance/choreo:
level changes! and lots of them!
tight clean transitions.
visual transitions in and out of sections.
originality of skills.

i will do levels 3-5 next. i want to look over the rules once again, just to make sure i dont miss anything!!

Dramatically different answers depending on the competition and level. Completely different philosophies and grids. It is incredibly frustrating as a coach.

Really studying the CheerSport and Jam Brands scoresheets for the first time this season has made me more pessimistic than ever that the EPs could find common ground to make a single scoring system

It's so frustrating explaining to a mini level one why you aren't maxing out and adjusting per judges comments and then getting total conflicting answers at the next comp and they ask to see skills you took out.

Why would they want to find common ground when they already know their scoring system is perfect?! Roll... My... Eyes...

We're to the point where we've just decided to do mostly Jam Brands competitions and just choreograph to their scoresheet. Their grids are pretty specific, and generally we score well elsewhere because the Jam Brands scoresheet really requires you to pack in a lot. The other competitions we do, 1 UCA and 2 Xtreme Spirit, have very vague scoring guidelines which can be pretty frustrating...

That is what their summer camps are like too. They want different things at every event they host.

We decided on Jam brands and WSA events two years ago because we can break those scoresheets down easily and they challenge you in every section.
I've spoken with Kevin Brubaker though and cheersport is an event we will be heading to next year. Whether its local Biloxi or big time Atlanta hasn't been decided yet. I'm anxious to study their system though.

I read this thread title as "Making out scoresheet" and I thought, "Hmm....keeping score huh?"

Why should it be up the EP to find a common ground for a universal scoresheet? Do coaches not have as big of a voice as EPs?

Go to ATL... Totally worth the trip!

Under the current structure, no.

Then it should be ever coaches goal to make the USASF make that happen. Hopefully this will be addressed (or has been addressed) at the NACCC meeting in Doral. I have very strong opinions about EPs and most are not good. However, I do see that they have an important role in our sport. I believe that coaches and EPs should have equal voting rights. And I was under the impression that it was structured like that.
