Thou shall not call the gym owner after tryout postings and tell them, "you have ruined my childs life."

CP shall be placed where CP belongs. Remember that. Do not get all paranoid that there's a conspiracy to keep CP off level 5 (or 2, or 3). Be happy for their successes, regardless of what they are.

Thou shall not post cryptic messages on facebook, twitter, fierceboards, or other social media alluding to your planned hissy fit if CP does not make the team that you deem worthy of his/her skills.

I am on a shimmy-ing frenzy to all!. One more for coaches/gym owners: it is ok for your athletes to try out elsewhere. Sometimes it is just to re-enforce that your gym is the gym they are most happy at.

You walk out of the gym, turn right, keep walking toward your car, drive to Starbucks, Target, Walmart, whatever, and look for the group of blinged parents sipping adult beverages for two hours. The Parent Area should be in the middle of them.

If your CP is leaving their well-known gym for another program for whatever reason, never, ever let them wear their gear from previous gym to tryouts.

Arg, I wish I could print this off and personally hand it to some parents. I had to say good-bye to a crying CP yesterday because mom wants her to fly on X team at X gym but CP doesn't want to leave :(

This. Sometimes a shimmy just isn't enough!

Thou shalt not use "Susie was flying on level 5 at x other gym last season" as a reason for your new gym to make her a fly on level 5 (especially if Susie doesn't have level 5 skills). Every gym evaluates differently, let them do their job!

Thou shalt now buy your CP a spot on a team she has no business being on. I don't care how much money you have or how many high profile choreography jobs mommy can get the coach? If CP doesn't Ben have a handspring they do not belong on a level 4/5 team.

For the cheerleaders:
Thou shalt not lie about when team you were on at your last gym. People will find out.

Thou shalt not get mental blocks because of tryouts. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, hit it.
