Lol motivational fact: I started college at 18 and hated it. I had no motivation whatsoever. I'm now 40 and I'm STILL WORKING ON THE SAME DEGREE. I may possibly get my bachelor's next July because I'm now racing my 19-year-old daughter to see who can graduate from college first. Trust me... being 40 and in college sucks waaaaaaaay more than The Crucible.
Hit those books, girlie! :D
Really though - the gummy bears thing works. I also mix other things I want/need to get done with studying. None of it is fun, but I feel so accomplished if I read for 30 minutes, go running, read some more, do dishes, study more, etc. That way after a couple hours I've gotten like 5 things checked off my list instead of just one. I NEVER work on one assignment for more than 30-45 minutes at a time without getting up and doing something else, or even just switching subjects for 20 minutes.
I also set a timer for every 30 minutes on my "study all day" days. One, the half hour flies by - and you realize reading for half an hour isn't so bad; breaking it up makes it seem smaller. Two, it keeps me aware of how much time is passing, so I'm not all of a sudden like,
"OMG! #+@% it's 9:00!!!! How did that happen?!?"
