Lots of personality! Just focus on doing the cheer/stunt at the moment and don't worry about what happened or what is going to happen later. You might mess up a little but if you roll with it you'll do fine. Good luck!
Thank you! This helps a lot coming from someone outside the team. Surprisingly, I've never heard just roll with it. I've never really thought about it either. That makes the a lot of sense though. Just don't let it faze you and keep going. Thanks again!

You'll do great!! One thing that helped me my first year was to find one little kid in the crowd and make eye contact/cheer directly to them. Kids don't know when you mess up and love getting attention from a big kid cheerleader. Good luck and have fun!
Sorry to double post but thank you so much for this! I never would have thought of this! Maybe she'll recognize me even! We did a kiddie camp this summer so hopefully some of those girls will be at the game!

So tomorrow I'm cheering at my first football game ever and I'm super excited but I'm kinda nervous too. Any words of advice? I feel like I shouldn't be nervous. I know all of my cheers and I know my stunts can hit. So I don't understand why I'm this nervous
Don't be nervous, it's fun! Focus on being as overly peppy as you can. You may think you're smiling and look happy, but a normal smile doesn't really come across as happy when you're yelling, so you really have to exaggerate it. Raising your eyebrows helps too. If you mess up, keep your smile and just keep going, if you're really lost try to casually look around you to figure out where you should be. Focusing on a kid is a good idea but if you're in front of the student section where there are no kids, look kind of up and through them and don't be intimidated by them. Our student section used to throw stuff at us, they're pretty awful, so trust me when I say there's nothing to be afraid of! They can't hurt you and they probably aren't paying enough attention to you to make fun of you or even notice if you mess up!

Thank you! Thankfully (going off of your student section anyway) we don't really have a student section for football. But our parents are just as crazy. Sometimes they'll tend to outnumber and out-chant our student section in basketball season. And that's one thing I love about football season: they're more likely looking up and over you to watch the game than looking at you, where as in basketball season, if they're looking at you, they're looking at you and it's obvious. In other words, I'm glad The Herd doesn't assemble until basketball season. Funny you mention raising your eyebrows. I always get teased that I don't have them, and I think I look sorry if demonic when I raise them as high as I can (because I can raise them pretty high)

Our student section threw gum at us a couple times in high school *insert side eye emoji here*

I was scrolling on my facebook and i saw this post by a local news channel. Its a picture of a WSU academic planner, (but the bottom picture is a photo of the UW campus haha!!!), but i saw the cougar in the top left and was confused why BlueCat was on a WSU planner...

When I tore my MCL they let me do physical therapy at home! They gave me a sheet of exercises and a couple of tools. It was wayyyy too expensive and I didn't have a license to get there efficiently so they told me I had that option.

I'm not sure if your pt does that, or if it's good for your injury, but it's worth asking!
