Week 3 of my summer semester and I'm ready to jump off a bridge. 28 credits AND part 1 of my national board exams at the end of the summer.

AND 6 of those 28 credits is the hardest/largest class in the curriculum reading every x-ray/MRI/CT modality and identifying every pathology on the film that you may or may not have even been taught.. like for real. there's a 2 volume skeletal radiology text we use as "the bible" and if it's in that book it's fair game. the prof teaches approximately 1/4 of the material in that book in class and lab. Like I understand the whole "your patient may walk in with something you've never seen before" mentality, but I would consult the text/colleagues/radiologist if I saw something I didn't know... not be graded on my ability to memorize every pathology in those 3000 pages and what it looks like on a radiograph AND write it all down correctly in 90 seconds.

sorry, I needed to be a whiny baby for a second. I know I voluntarily signed up for this torture. thanks for letting me vent.

@njallday my chiro has his own X-ray machine and has to read all his own.

I feel ya, I had a class like that last semester. I get why I have to know it, but it seems very unlikely that I will need to know how a pathology looks on an X-ray/MRI/CT/Ultrasound/every other modality without being able to use a book. Our professor seemed to disagree, and he tried to teach us how an MRI works, too much physics for me lol. Thankfully we weren't tested much on stuff we didn't learn in class though, I can't imagine that, good luck!!

oh I know - something like 80% of chiros had their own machines and did it all themselves last time it was checked 10 years ago. there seems to be a shift away from that in recent years, but it's still absolutely a necessary skill. and I actually absolutely LOVE the radiology aspect of the program and solving the "mystery" and am HIGHLY considering applying for a radiology residency to go much further into that niche (if i ever got accepted... it's near impossible to get into the program and even more near impossible to pass the separate radiology board exams to get your DACBR) but I love it! except I'm in that class physically 8 hours a week, plus 4 hours of open lab to look at more films PLUS the approximately 20 hours i've spent this weekend learning what's in the book that the prof isn't teaching us.

if i didn't have 22 other credits worth of classes and boards to worry about, i'd be golden. and a saturday class this semester so I don't even have weekends anymore lol :confused:

I'm just a little overwhelmed today. deep breaths, it'll be fine.

That's right....Breath in, breath out and you'll be okay.

Today, I got results from one of the recruitment exams I took about two months ago and it's a good news/bad news kind of situation. I was 0.3 points away from making it, which kind of sucks, but I got much better grades than I expected so I'm kind of proud too !
Keeping my fingers crossed for the results of the second exam next week...

Went to the beach this weekend for a little getaway :) Saw Pitch Perfect 2 - I almost think it was better than the first one. It was really cute.

I saw it twice this weekend. I definitely liked it better than the first. My only thing is that they kind of overused the "original" thing. All I know is that the music was perfect and I'd marry 90% of that cast. They were flawless. And I already bought the soundtrack and I'm listening to it right now
