Plus people are more likely to give you money if you give them something valuable in return. Duh. I don't understand people.My mom called me and ask if she should make my sister one for the Summit costs last year and I literally screeched at her. To me, GoFundMe should be for necessities, not NICEities. Nothing wrong with fundraising for cheer, but provide something in exchange instead of just plastering your link everywhere. Sell bows, go work concessions, go wash some cars...do SOMETHING! I'm much more inclined to help those willing to work for it.
As for your mom, maybe she doesn't know how they work? I'm not surprised she asked you that question, given all of the stories of people making GoFundMe pages for pageants, trips to Disney, etc.
