You're not alone. I was raised in a hard-core republican household. Literally, my dad made us pay "taxes" to him when we were kids. Whenever we had ice-cream or a treat, he would take a few bites, and that was our way of paying.
My dad would grab a fry (or whatever food item we were eating) if he wanted one and say "Bill Clinton tax" lol

Ok I always feel like I come in this thread to whine but you know I'm feeling really frustrated. Where I live I realistically only have 1 gym option (not counting the one I'm at, because I'm switching to the other gym) it's not ideally where I'd like to even go, but I can't go to my preferred gym without making a 1.5~ hour drive which is not possible due to my family's schedule. I just want more options and it's making me mad seeing all of these gyms go to Illinois and Ohio over and over again but no one will come here. And if they do they'll come to a part of the state that's too far away. I'm just feeling bleh about it right now. Sorry for the rant.. Just had to get that out somewhere lol

Never say never. We had that 1.5 hr commute time and as the driver I was at my wits end. Tired of traffic, late nights and my carpool partner was moving across the country at the end of the season :( No way I could do it alone. Suddenly a new closer option with levels that matched my cheer peep's needs opened about 25 minutes away.

As much as it pains me to say it, Trump has a lot of views on the economy that mesh with mine.
Same. But he isn't the only Republican who believes in, for example, a 14.9% tax for everyone. I am not a fan of the whole "tax the rich" thing, because the rich can always find loopholes to avoid that, leaving the upper middle class to pay the bulk (and thus hurting the middle class).

The only thing that stops me from being a republican is that I care more about social issues than economic issues.

I don't doubt that there will ever come in my life where I vote Republican

And when I do I will keep that to myself. Take it to the grave.

I consider myself to be socially liberal and fiscally conservative. In other words, Libertarian.

These stories of Republican parents taxing their kids are cracking me up. And now I'm thinking of the dinner scene from Donnie Darko.

Did he spit it out later and call it a refund? LOL
