I'm babysitting my 2 month old little brother today. My mom is having surgery so I had to be here at 5 am :/. He's been so good all day and like an hour ago, he started screaming and he will noot stop. I fed him, changed him, rocked him, tried to put him in his crib etc and I'm just at a loss now.

Also I'm going to be the messiest mom ever. I've destroyed this house, there's baby crap absolutely everywhere. Whoops!
ETA not actual baby crap lol

I am so sorry you are having to deal with it. I live in the south and there have been lots of academies with not much sucess in my area.

I am moving to wales and to save money they are building a super school (4-18) and going to try and make primary age kids travel over an hour each way to school

You might be in a deprived area but fight for all you can schools are safe havens and really fight OFSTED if there is enough stink they might actually help
I'm so sorry to hear this! A few of my friends are teachers in similar areas and my godmother is an ex teacher from Croxeth so I've heard so many stories... I cannot stand Michael Gove but I want you to know that your work will not go unnoticed. The work that inspiring teachers do stays with students forever; just last week my whole class sent a Happy Birthday card to one of our GCSE teachers because he was someone who truly cared. I haven't seen the bloke in 6 years so you get the drift! Good luck tomorrow! X

Thanks guys. I actually did get observed by one of the inspectors today. They're only supposed to stay about 20mins and this one stayed 40!!! He was so incredibly thorough, checking all the work and logbooks, speaking to every kid and questioning them. I was happy with the way the lesson went though so when I went for feedback I wasn't too worried. My feedback was wonderful!!! He praised my lesson saying it was inspiring and engaging and that the enthusiasm from the kids was fantastic and that they had great pride in their achievements. My lesson was then mentioned in the summary meeting at the end of the day as one of 2 lessons where the teaching was outstanding!!!!! I'm so incredibly happy :) Just one more day of inspections, but I doubt they'll see me again tomorrow. Then we'll be told the final judgement at 4:15 eeeek! Word on the street is that they're not impressed with behaviour or management of the school-nothing we teachers haven't been saying for years!

Which website in USA is best looking for flights? I'd need something like Miami-Costa Rica or NY-chile or something like that.

Hmm. International flights are tough. I like Hipmunk.com because it has an interesting timeline view of flights. But I generally book directly with the airline, I just use it for research.

Kayak is a good one too. I think they're pretty decent for international flights.

Or google flights:

I have zero motivation to study for finals. I'm doing pretty well in all of my classes (All A's and one B) so I don't need to study as much as I have needed to in the past to try and boost my grades. But I still want to do well to keep my grades. Finals don't start till Monday so I've still got time, but I just feel super anxious about school right now. I'm trying to tell myself that I deserve a night or two to relax after working so hard this entire semester. Soooooo I'm just gonna keep procrastinating, haha.

Good luck to everyone with all their finals and projects and what not!

Recently two people posted threats to the university here in town, both were caught. I couldn't believe the second guy was that dumb to do the same thing another guy just got busted for! Duh....

Eta...sorry you had to deal with all this!! I really wish the anon apps didn't exist!
I actually heard about that! I have some friends that go there, and they were posting all about it in Facebook. But thank you, it was pretty terrible, but I felt worse for all the administrators and police officers who had to deal with it. @cheernerd5678 I'm glad you're right. I think they're pretty close to catching who did it, if they haven't already. I really hope this opens some eyes to all these kids who think they can hide behind the internet and not ever face consequences.

just finished my one final for today and school closes at noon. so i got the best of both worlds and got to take my final and (sort of) have a snow day. yay!!! :D prayer to the snow gods/fierceboard worked lol
Was a good call for a snow day today. Roads are terrible.

**I don't care what the score is, if you don't predict my team for a paid bid we are not friends**

I'm pretty sure you can't ship alcohol to MA. But I will definitely make a road trip to find some of this.
It's ice cream. I'll bet they know the legality of it.

I was on vacation last week so I had to take a test early in one of my classes. The teacher gave back the scantrons to the class and mine wasn't in there so I went to his office to get it. He was looking for it in the written part of the tests that he hadn't given back to the class yet, and the final scores for the test are written on the front of it, so I happened to look over his shoulder and see all the grades. I got a C, which for me isn't that great. But then I saw all the other scores..... There was one A, one B, a handful of C's, and the rest were D's and F's. Like 75% of the class didn't pass.
At what point does a teacher look at the grades the class is getting and think "Hmmm, maybe this isn't working." Some of the failing grades I saw belong to people who sit by me and are always putting together study groups and never miss class, so it's not like they're slackers. It's crazy.

My guess is that they took C as the average score that most people were expected to get, in which case an A or B would be excellent and a D below-average. So well done for getting a C, you should be proud that you beat most of the class! It does suck, though, when they set tests that are deliberately too hard for people to do really well in. Definitely one of my pet hates... They do it ALL THE TIME in college...

This is how A LOT of college exams go. Thank goodness for the curve. But in your case it sounds like someone might have killed that curve for everyone.

He doesn't grade on a curve. What you get is what you get. I've never seen this before with any other class though. A lot of my professors will give a break down of how many of each letter grade the class got for tests, and while there are a few D's and F's, most of the class still gets a C or higher. But I don't think any of my professors grade on a curve this semester.
