Lol "do you know it's cold there" hahah. I'm just thankful that my school has tunnels that connect all the educational buildings so the only time I have to walk outside is from my apartment to the union.

That's so smart! Would make living in a cold place much more bearable

I mean, it's better than living in a nationally ranked city for how dangerous it is. That's always a fun one to explain to people.

Hahah that is very true!

At the water park I used to work at a lady who wasn't from the area asked why we had to check her bags and we joked and said that well we are located in the 5th most dangerous city in America according to Forbes magazine. She thought we were kidding...

Another magazine did a ranking of just Illinois cities not including Chicago and were number 1, Gotta love it here
Yikes! I wonder if Milwaukee made that list anywhere.

I'm tempted to go look at more schools in Missouri (aka farther South) as I listen to the wind blowing outside. It's hard to imagine living somewhere colder than where I do now

Unfortunately Missouri isn't probably going to be much better. I've lived here my entire life (Kansas City area) and it still sucks [emoji17] I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

I don't think we made top ten in 2013 (thank god!) but we made the least educated list that they put out this past year.
I think those lists are garbage. You can find 20 different lists in each year and none of them say the same thing.

And I really don't need a list to tell me Chicago is dangerous. I especially love the lists that say Chicago isn't dangerous. Um... What?

Although today I was more likely to die from falling or freezing to death. I think even the criminals are staying home today!

This is a 100% perfect representation of how I feel about where I live right now(currently -40 windchill)

Okay so I wanna show you guys what I've been working on! Ever since discovering the makeup thread, I've bevome addicted to makeup and trying new looks. Well, my makeup and jewelry has over run my tiny storage space so I decided to make a vanity. Being the broke college student that I am, my budget was under $100. Here's the final product :-)

I got the shelves at good will for $13 total.

I painted them black and hung them on my wall.

I went to walmart, got a mirror for ten bucks and hung it up with some old Christmas lights.

I went to AC Moore and got little planks and dowels for a total of $2 and hot glued them together, then wrapped some old magazines up and wrapped them in some ribbon from my Christmas tree and spray painted the wood with glitter spray.

Then I found a nice glass cake stand at good will for $2 and wrapped a gold xmas bow on it and put my nail polish in a mason jar.

I had an empty bottle of perfume and put a fake flower in it because it looked pretty lol

Then I put all my makeup that I use dsily in little trays that I got for .99 at walmart. Put my makeup brushes in an old candle jar as well as the cotton balls and qtips.

Sorry for all the pics but I'm so happy with how it came out!!! :-)

ETA:

I made this little eyelash frame too. I bought the frame at good will for a buck and got three pairs of ELF lashes for a buck and glued them on. I think it's cute and sets the makeup mood lol

Anddd apparently we were the second most dangerous small city this past year. Lovely. Thank god I only live next to it (aka I drive two minutes and I'm there) and the town I live in has bad parts and nice parts where the crime rate is non-existent.
Thankfully I'm like 20 mins away! My town was voted one of the best places to live in 2013, woohoo

I've never had the flu shot and I've never had the flu.
I've always been so good about getting mine, but last year I just couldn't find the time to get in (translated: my mom always forces me to get mine, but last year she told me to go myself and I'm horribly afraid of needles, so I found every excuse not to go.) I ended up getting it really bad in March. My doctor wouldn't let me go to school for three weeks (which lead to me dropping two non-vital classes) and I could barely eat or make it out of bed for over a week. I learned my lesson.
