From what I can tell there really weren't any real changes necessarily just clarifying for the most part

updates?! AGAIN?!!

Clarifications technically but I think it may affect some things. Right now another coach and I are trying to determine if twisting front flips that are braced by the backspot are still legal.
In pyramids the clarification says twisting mounts and transitions are allowed up to one twist and must be connected to two bracers at prep level or below. Does this cancel out the suspended forward roll rule that allows the backspot to be the only brace for the flyer?

I think that was clarifying for release moves. They have inversions and release moves as separate spots on there. Twisting release moves are not allowed unbraced at level 3 so the bracer clarification was needed. The flips remain the same. I seriously hope I'm not misreading and the front fulls are still legal because they are the main part of my pyramid right now lol.

You just have to have both the flyers hand connected to someone on the ground and you can do the suspend forward roll with a twist. If you are touching someone on the ground you aren't released

Can I say that I like the clarifications about rules but I wish we could have gotten all of this settled before this point in the year? It's enough to make a coach poo their pants seeing rules "updates" 2 weeks before our first competition. I have enough routine stress in my life.

I don't see these as changes, but are clarifications. If this didn't come out, you would have to wonder about the interpretation and it might cause different judges to rule differently at each event.

I definitely see your point, but it's still stressful.

Let me know what you find out with this- I was wondering the same thing.

Thank you! Like @FamousMatty said it's a big component in our pyramid and I was afraid that having only ONE base (backspot) bracing the flyer made it illegal bc it clarifies TWO bracers at prep or below. The flyers don't brace each other, they're only braced by their backspot and the bases toss then move to catch.

I'm just so gun-shy after last season when my youth 2 was on a perfect season run and ended up getting called out for legalities at their last two comps. The legalities were very minor technical things that had not been caught by anyone all year. We dropped from first to third both times that happened. It's a gut punch to me bc that's actually MY deduction, not theirs.

There's going to be one in ours as well, but it's not released, and it's legal in stunts.

The clarifications for 3 were essentially a response to the pyramid twisting release discussion here http://forum.fierceboard.com/threads/two-level-3-questions.18954/

Thank you again! I remember that thread but I had forgotten about it. The clarifications are just so detailed now it makes me as nervous as a one legged man in a butt kicking contest!

I just reread it and can see where the confusion comes in, if you just read the new red clarification by itself. But it is in the pyramid release section of the rules so it only applies to L3 Pyramid Release moves, must maintain contact with two other top persons if the release move begins at prep level or above, passes above extended arm level, includes more than one skill, or is caught in an extended position. and now with the latest clarification you are also allowed up to 1 twist (which was questionable during most of October)
