Hello! :D

My CP will be 12 this year and is a solid level 4. She has everything needed in levels 1-4 and is working on her ro hand full. Team selections started last night and she was told she qualifies for level 5 because she has a toe back and multi-jumps to back. Personally I am thinking that she should be on a level 4 because she has the right skills for the team. I don't want her to be put on a team where she doesn't get to do running tumbling because she doesn't have the skills needed. My daughter however, wants to be put on a level 5.

My question is: If she does indeed make a level 5 team, should I contact the coaches and request that she be moved down to the level 4 team?

Maybe she has other skills for level 5. She already has the jumps to back and possibly she is a strong base or back? When putting the team together she probably has what they need on the level five. And they maybe see the potential? I would give it a chance. Sounds like your cp believes she is ready!

I'd trust the coaches' decision. If you have concerns, speak to them and listen to their rationale. There is so much more than just tumbling skills that goes into a decision about team placement. As far as not having a running pass... There were kids on CPs team last year with doubles who did not throw a running tumbling pass and there were kids with layouts on other level 5 teams who did...Often it boils down to choreography and what works with any given team!

Also to add it may be a restricted 5..if that's the case she is more than qualified!

If the cp feels ready and the coaches feel she is ready don't worry about it. We have to trust the coaches to know what they're doing when they put a team together. Esp at L5. Hope she has a great season :)
