I'm curious as to what everyone thinks (judges??)

How important is symmetry in a pyramid. Personally, I like to see it and it bugs me when it's off. However, when working on my pyramid for this year, I find that my tallest AND my smallest flyer are doing the best in the trick positions (groups 2 & 4).

Would this hurt us? Does it matter if the symmetry is off if it hits and it's clean? Opinions??

i dont think the judges will care if one flyer is taller then the other, it might lower your score if the timing is off but iff it goes at the same time and hits the judges cant take away those points.

I'd like to hear @MissBee 's take on it bc I'm all about symmetry in a routine too but I also know where you're coming from. It's not like we can all choose our teams with perfectly symmetrical flyers to mirror each other.

The height thing does bother me, but not that it should take away from their score. I remember UA Legacy's stunt last year with the tiny little girl flying around taller (a couple were quite taller) people, and how much I wished she was point so the others kinda matched, but it shouldn't affect score.

Symmetry shouldn't affect score, but it does help make the team look more clean! If there are two tall flyers doing the same position on both sides then it evens everything out. My high school coach takes it to an extreme though and uses hair color! It shouldn't matter. Whoever does that spot the best and makes it look the cleanest should do it!

I think in general that everything looks better if there is balance. Should points be taken off...No!

You can't help how tall they are!

As long as they are in synch, its all good in da hood. So if one is taller you may have to get her moving faster (not earlier) than the shorter girl to keep the timing together. Go with what hits clean!

Thank you all for your input. It's always been a personal pet peeve of mine to have a balanced/symmetrical pyramid but I can't ignore the fact who's doing a better job. I feel a little better knowing it shouldn't directly hurt (it's still going to irritate me though, lol)

I'm all for symmetry, but it comes down to what hits. A lot of times you can make them look similar by who's underneath them. I would put tall bases under the short flyer and a short group under the tall one.

the tall bases with the little flyer will especially love it! :)

My taller flyer could base my shorter bases lol. Luckily I have 2 short, 2 tall, so it's all gravy!

Unfortunately, there's a pretty big difference in weight/height that I really wouldn't be able to get the same results with the taller flyer and smaller bases, the other groups are just not strong enough to do what needs to be done. We did move some bigger bases under the smaller flyer but there is still probably a full foot difference in height!
