I'm thinking of rejoing cheer but I'm slightly terrified. My local gym has a Masters team. I only have cheerabillites and slight adult cheer experience. I have little stunting experience as a front spot. What should I do?

I’m not familiar with the term 'Masters team.' I recommend stopping by the gym to talk to people and see if joining their team is a realistic option.

i'm not sure where you're from, but in sweden we have masters as a division, that's 25yo and up, max level 3. some teams are more veteran teams, so retired athletes coming back just for funsies with less practices and pressure. but most teams are mainly adults who has never cheered a day in their life and very few "old" athletes, and they do anywhere from level 1 to 3 depeding on each athlete. so if it's anything like that where you live, i'd say sign up! or at the very least, as keep_believing said, go have a chat with them, i'm sure you could watch or even try one practice if you're still unsure!

You should get in touch with the gym and join the team! I know several people who are still cheering into their 40/50's, and at a high level too. You've got nothing to lose by going out for it. And then get to open gyms with your group and get stunting!

We have Masters in the UK and it's age 17+ but 75% of the team needs to be over 25. It's usually only level 1 and 2 here. Became popular over recent years as a lot of people here don't start cheer until university and want to continue when they graduate, but don't have the skills for an open team. We had a Masters team the past two seasons which was a mix of coaches, previously retired athletes and also some parents! Our parents liked it because it was less expensive to pay a competition entry fee than it was to buy spectator passes for some competitions!!

Go for it! If you aren't sure then reach out and ask them if the team would be suitable for you. A lot of people who join Masters teams have no experience at all.

We need Masters teams in the US. We finally had a parent team last year and it was a lot of fun, and supposed to have it again this year, but some of us wanted to compete with other parent teams lol.

Masters sounds really cool and probably a great fit for you. I wish we had options like that here.
