Ok, am i dreaming or did the rules change back in the spring for 2011-2012 that the small teams would be 5-19 members for levels 1-4 and large would be 20-32? now it's small is 5-20 again? am i crazy? when did it change back or was it never changed?

It never changed. 32 is the max for levels 1-4 though.

Are you sure it didn't change, even for a short time? Because (bear with me here...lol), back in may during our gym's tryouts, a coach for our J3 team mentioned they were only having 19 (21 were trying out). I thought in my head "that's stupid, why not put up 5 stunt groups instead of 4, they have enough flyers, bases, backs....". But I figured they knew what they were doing. Shortly thereafter I felt stupid because I saw the rules changes and I Could SWEAR it had said small was 5-19. Now I went and looked again and it says 5-20, but it's highlighted as a change...

Well thank you! I Am blonde and perhaps senile and now back to wondering about 4 stunt groups instead of 5....

Some coaches will play a numbers game with ratios. So, it will be easier to put up 4 stunts with 19 than 5 with 20. This gives a front spot on 3 0f 4 groups and gives a little advantage in some people's opinion.

They aren't used as front spots, though, they hide behind the stunts :/. I feel with so much certainty that I saw the rules say 5-19. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying im confused...lol.

Maybe they were strategizing for larger nationals or something? I know at NCA Nationals sometimes if the division is large enough they will have A and B divisions within small or large. For example: Small Senior 3 B would be 5 to 19 people, but Small Senior A would be only teams with 20. This only happens when it is a very large division however and does not happen every year. Either that or maybe the 2 girls they didnt take couldnt hang with the team skills wise or attitude wise.....just throwing out some possibilities

To make you feel better, I'll agree with you - you are confused.

There were a number of discussions regarding division sizes. Mainly it revolved around the large division with 36, 32, 30 and 28 being thrown around. People were concerned about 9, 8, 7 stunt groups and what to do with 2 extra people if you you had 30. Some people suggested changing the small division as well but that never really went anywhere.

In the end this is the actual voting that took place: http://usasf.net.ismmedia.com/ISM2//Member Documents /NACCC_Voting_Slate_2011_Results RAW.pdf
