So, as a cheer parent I get what the basic idea of sandbagging is...

So- what determines if a team is truly sandbagging? And is it worth reporting and who does it and how?

I was going over the schedule for an upcoming large competition my CP is participating in and noticed a team that is in our geographic region in our category but we hadn't competed against all season. Quick Google fu and find out of the four comps's I easily pulled up that they competed at a higher lever for 3 of the 4 comps. Now they are competing lower. How many times do they have to compete at the lower level to not be "sandbaggers"?

Nothing to report. At this point I think NCA is the only comp that even has a specific rule requiring a certain # of comps at a level. If Mega Allstars wants to bring their worlds team and have them sandbag and compete at level 2 at just about any other comp... It's all ok in the cheer world (no rules against it)

Remember sometimes it is harder for a team that has been competing at x level to water down their routine and Tumbling and complete it great than the team doing it all season... Ex: a level 3 going to a level 2 and the kids accidentally tuck or in a stunt do a 360 full around instead of 180...

Did you see the results for the team when they competed as a higher level? We just had a team here bump down because they were consistently placing in the bottom half all season. They just competed this past weekend as their new level and placed in the top 3. I'm sure many people expected them to win based on them competing up to that point as a higher level but it clearly didn't help.

Sandbagging to me is winning in level 5 and competing in 2, not worth complaining about because "it is legal" as a coach said to us when we said something to him. To me how can u feel proud of winning level 2 after most of the team won 5. Some girls on their level 2 will have uniforms on from their level 5, they don't even try to hide it.

I'll never understand how someone can "accidentally" throw a tuck instead of a handspring. Your body goes in two seperate directions for a tuck and a handspring.

When their technique is so bad the tuck and the bhs are only different bc no hands are used? Maybe, perhaps?

When they are used to throwing it and the adrenaline is in full effect they aren't thinking about the routine and just do what they're used to doing.

That's funny about NCA since our division got sandbagged at NCA Nationals two years ago ...

I generally do not mind it as long as the team is like, ONE level lower.

Sometimes, your L5 tumbling/stunting is so inconsistent that you HAVE to take it back to a 4 or risk multiple people not having ACLs anymore (holy under-rotated and janky fulls Batman!)

Now if you're (example) Senior 5 competing against my L2s (as in when I coached, those girls legitimately had only had BHSs for 6 months, truthfully level 2), I'm side-eyeing you so hard my eyeballs are about to fall out of my head.
