We had a great stay at the Sheraton for NCA -the rooms were comfortable, the breakfast buffet was great, the staff (while certainly overworked and busy) were helpful and polite. We would stay there again under certain conditions...But there was one large issue and I am hesitant to post about it due to possible reprecussions...and I was wondering if anyone else had ever encountered this in previous years...There was a large suite on our floor with a piano; every night we were there (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) loud, intoxicated people would start arriving around 2:30am to party in the suite. However, they didn't stay in the suite-often they would end up loudly talking in the hallways and multiple requests to them and calls to security did nothing. Also, the piano would be literally banged on and the people sleeping in the rooms on that side of the suite could not sleep at all. One family had to go bunk with another family just to get some rest. This would go on until 4:30 or 5:00am in the morning. One father went to the gym to workout at about 5am and went by and they were still noisy so he asked them to keep it down. The girls staying on that floor were younger with younger siblings in the rooms which meant waking up fairly early.
After the second night of this, a group of parents went to the front desk together to complain and found out the group renting the room had already been issued two warnings and they assured the complaining group that if a third warning had to be issued the group would be ejected. They said a formal letter would be slipped under the door and security rounds would be increases. However, that night everything was repeated, with calls to security and partying till early in the morning. The complaining group thought that either the room had been rented by older cheerleaders to party in since they probably didn't compete in until later in the day.
Here is the really disturbing part-the staff at the Sheraton told the group of parents that the suite had been rented for judges and officials from NCA. If this is true, it was extremely disrespectful and arrogant of them to behave the way that they did when they knew that most likely cheerleaders were staying in the adjoining rooms. So, if we go back to the Sheraton we will def be requesting to NOT stay on a floor with a suite...
