High School Single-braced Flips :-|

Does anyone know of new, novel skills we can pursue under the “single-braced flip” rule? Because I can’t think of any outside of the simple flip done with a bracer behind the flyer.

I was all excited when this rule was announced, but then realized it does not really mean much because:

1. Both the bracer’s and flyer’s arms need to be connected, so that rules out “butterfly” twists (in pyramids).

2. And even twists connected with both arms aren’t allowed because we can’t twist more than a half turn.

So if anyone has any ideas for these flips, I’d love to hear it.

I don’t know if you’ve actually blocked me or not, but a team of 8 doing a collegiate-style rewind to the top where the top person connects with the bracer on her arm swing...gets caught extended, then prep, press. and toss back flip again to the top would be slick. The rules say that this rule will make prep-level bajas legal, but by my interpretation, this more elite skill would not be prohibited.

You could do a lot of senior 5 pyramids from back in like 2010-2012 (watch old school small senior teams) in highschool now. You could face the prep, backflip through their arms with a split and half turn to a cradle. You can rewind to the top with the prep behind you. You can do a double baha like SE used to do two (?) seasons ago in the center of their pyramid. You could baja and half turn to prone, lift to an inversion and regrip, and then do a front rotation out of the inversion to land in an extended arabesque facing the prep group. You could side sumi. You could also side sumi and then as you are coming down half turn to cradle. Theres a lot of room for creativity it just has to be tricky.

2011 is a good year because lots of people were doing half turn inversions. You could do this entire pyramid without the people in the middle prep in highschool now:

We did routine choreo this weekend and viola we are doing a round off entry into the very stunt I describe here. So...hope it’s legal
