im a main base but this season i might have to switch to side. how different is it, is it gonna be like starting from step 1?

You're more responsible for blocking skills in my opinion. Especially switches and twisting skills. To an extent you're also responsible for balancing left to right versus toe/heel.

I find siding a little easier, as you generally use the same hand position for most skills in the air (heel and toe) and there is less movement involved (not moving from the side to under the stunt). Plus I hate having the stunt directly over top of me, if you're stunting single base style. I think it comes from years of backing, but I like being slightly aside the stunt to see everything versus just the bottom of the foot
