All-Star Summit Reflections And Recommendations

I've had that problem more with Varsity than any other pins I've ever had. I got an all-american pin, a Christmas Extravaganza pin, and a pin with a girl doing a BHS... due to the crappy black things I lost the BHS one. Luckily after that I realized to take the pins off my bag and store them (plus I was sick of getting poked when the black things came off).
So I bought pin-locks which truly lock your pin and keep you from losing it. They were like $4 or $5 for 12 of them on amazon. I'd rather do that than buy $10 pins just to keep losing them, sure it's an extra couple bucks but at least you don't waste your money! It's really worth it if you want to display your pins on your bag, it's SO secure!

Split all division between coed and all girl!

The only recognized coed division splits that would apply are JC5, and senior lv 3-5 divisions. If there were more than 2 coed teams and two AG teams (total of four) in any of those divisions it should've been split. My son was on a j4 this year and we heard a lot of griping that we shouldn't have been in the "all girl" division...except that coed isn't recognized in J4 anymore.

There is a tiny screw on the side of the pin backing. Unscrew it a bit, put the backing on, them tighten.

IMO if we want our sport to be recognized by "the world" as a sport, we need to treat it more like it. Worlds is our Olympics, you don't see other sports putting on make believe Olympics for individuals not at that level, because simply they are not "the best of the best". Worlds should be that... To yry and make something else a "worlds" like event for lower levels is just a money making scheme. Disney made a KILLING this weekend, and kids couldn't even enjoy the money spent to get into the parks at times because of overcrowding. There are so many other "end of year" comps that are appropriate and fun without the expense and leaving the prestige to those who truly make it to "Olympic" level.

No instructions? Mine had some! First get the little silver/gold piece (it's bigger, with a hole) and then a little black screw thing, and the tool. You put the screw in the bigger hole on the side of the silver piece. You slide it on the pin, and then tighten the screw using the little tool
" installation is simple! Insert allen screw in a pin guard; slide pin guard over the pins post. Then just tighten the allen screw until it is secure!" I found this IDK which description is more helpful lol

I was at Disney (different parks different days of course) the week between Worlds and Summit-including Thurs/Fri of Summit....definitely not what I would consider overcrowded (compared to summer/holidays anyway). We could move around, didn't have horrible waits for rides, etc.

That's because it doesn't. Worlds is less prestigious now because of all the bids given out. That being said, it's a completely different competition. The summit is supposed to be a national for the lower levels. NOT WORLDS. Worlds should be for the top teams in the country. They should not be compared to each other because they are different events.

ok thanks! I only have a gold piece no black thing, and I have the tool...I know its not rocket science but without instructions I was lost..even my Masters degree in Education did not prepare me for this LOL

For me, the screws were already inside the backing. I had to use the tool to unscrew a little bit first and then you can see it come out a bit.

That's what I'm saying. I agree.

If Worlds is less prestigious than they need to reconsider the amount of bids they're giving out (but they won't because varsity loves $$$), not bash the summit for "stealing their shine".

Summit is similar to the Junior Olympics and Worlds is similar to the Olympics??

You don't hear Olympic athletes complaining that the Junior Olympics takes away from the prestige of the Olympics.

I respectfully disagree. I want kids to want to reach the highest level and if they can go to disney on a level 2 team, why bother going for level 5. its just a sign of the times, more people want without working for it. jmo

I disagree. Not every athlete will be a l5 athlete. While I don't ever want to stop pushing my kids to be the best they can I don't think its fair to assume that everyone can achieve that skill level. I think the weekends should be switched for sure, as worlds is obviously a bigger honor, but Summit is wonderful!
