How do I figure out if I really want to switch gyms? I love the gym I am at now but it's a small gym. There is a larger gym an hour away from where I live. So how do I make up my mind if I want to leave or not?:(

Many factors to consider but a few are...
Have you outgrown your current gym? I.e. Are you a level 4 or 5 athlete but they only offer a L3 team?

Do you have transportation to a farther gym?

Cost?

How many competitions does the bigger gym do?

Please send money

Perhaps you should go watch a practice at the larger gym and see what you think of it?

I have been at 3 gyms in the past 3 seasons(yes, that sounds crazy). I went from a tiny tiny gym (only one team) to the largest in the state. It was an hour and 15 minutes (at the very least!!) away, and i just would like to warn you that the costs your parents will have to pay for gas each time you go down is CRAZY. I think my drive was 65 ish miles, and that was the main reason why i didn't return to that gym. We payed so so much in gas and food stops, it was crazy. In my opinion, the switch for me was great and really helped me, but my family was very strict about buying things/spending money because of how expensive that gym was.

I kid you not, make a pros and cons list of you leaving. In my opinion, you should only leave a gym if you are unhappy with the gym, or if you aren't challenged enough (ex: level 3 athlete with only level 1 and 2 team).

I agree, to go watch a practice, meet the staff, see the facility, and see if it's a good fit!

I'm sorry but your SIG really made me laugh after seeing this entire post, LOL!! I know people change theirs often and I can't remember if this is a new SIG or not.

I thought of that but then figured is need a reason to ask for money other than I just want some.

Nah as long as you claim it's going to fund your trip to Worlds (bid not required) or help you cheer somewhere across the globe (actually making the final roster not yet required) it flies in the cheer world. Free money!

Real team or fictitious?

What is it like switching gyms? How do you make new friends?
