For my team I help coach
No crying on the mat
Leave your personal problems at home, if not, you will be sent home
No cellphones between breaks unless it is important
Miss before a competition and you will be pulled
YOU are not the coach, DO NOT try and coach over us, that is what WE are for (this is a very common problem for our team :S )

It's still ridiculously frustrating for me, don't get me wrong. At times I would love more than anything to have cp join an organization that would just set it's rules and to say what they mean and mean what they say. If it was something huge, it would absolutely be a deal breaker for me as well. And illegal athletes are the be-all, end-all for me. I will not tolerate it, will not keep my mouth shut about my feelings regarding the subject and will not allow cp to compete on a team knowing they could be dq'd at any given competition.
We don't have rule issues like that. No illegal athletes. But, Daggum....if you're going to make a gym rule...enforce it. And enforce it across the board. If you're not willing to do that, that's fine...

... And don't make the rule in the first place.

Because for rule followers like us who will ensure we follow every rule you set (like scheduling family summer vacation around the gym schedule to comply with attendance rules)..we expect you're going to enforce it for all those other people that do whatever they feel like doing. And allowing that to continue, so you don't have to deal with crazy parents, is directly disrespectful to those of us who (by nature) are rule followers in the first place.

My advice to any coach or owner out there is to know what you have the intestinal fortitude to take on, and make rules about that. If you're not willing to fight Suzy's mom to the death over it...don't make it a rule in the first place.

This year we have seriously started enforcing a rule where if you don't throw your pass your out the coaches have NEVER enforced this before and i'm super happy that they are!

On my team, if you're late to practice, you have a lap for every minute you're late. If you miss practice, excused or unexcused, you have conditioning next practice.
If one stunt doesn't hit, we do it till every stunt hits all the way through, together as a team, 5-10 times in a row. If we're on #9 and one falls, it resets and we're back on #1.
If coach has to start the music over, its laps.
those are just a few lol

You get 3 unexcused absences for the entire season. By unexcused we mean family dinners, school projects (we like to promote responsibility and time management), non mandatory school functions, ect. If you are sick we expect for you to come sit at the front of the floor and at least watch te practice incase things change so we don't have to back track the next practice. Once you reach your 3 misses you are done. If you miss any practices including added practices the week before a competition the routine will be changed that day and you will not participate in that competition.

what are your team rules....

like i have heard, if u do not hit your stunt 3 times u dont get to take your uniform home with u until the next practice to try again.....

what is your teams attendance rules?

how are they enforced?

just curious!
im a softie and i get walked on :(
  • If we dont come in practicewear the whole team runs laps..
  • If our hair isnt up in a bow then we get extra conditioning.....
  • every time a flyer comes out of the air, Pushups...
  • If we dont throw our passes everybody does it over and over untill everyone hits it
  • if you three times in a row you get a water break if you mess up you have to start over

If my team is having trouble with stunts, we line up the stunt groups in a row. Coach starts the music and we ripple the stunts until the music stops. From the opening of the music until the end of dance we ripple the stunts. We also do Georgia Squares. Those are when you run around the mat and once a person gets to Corner 1, they do their hardest tumbling pass. When they are done or past center, whoever is at the corner to the right, Corner 2, they must tumble their hardest pass. Then again with Corners 3 and 4. Once you finish tumbling, you run again with the team.

I have tons of rules and I strictly enforce them from our 4 year olds to Worlds teams. Gum on the mat, go sit with your parents. In the "gym" area without a coach, ill kick you out. More than one person at a time on the tumble trak = conditioning for both. For my team I have rules and if any of them are broken at least one lap will be taken around the parking lot.
I've noticed over the years that my rules are know known by all and I even notice parents assisting in cautioning new kids and family's to prevent them. My rules are for safety and I don't play when it comes to safety.
