I’m a second-year JV coach. Last year, our Varsity team got new uniforms that didn’t fit well and started falling apart. I even contacted the company on the Varsity coach’s behalf, but she never followed up.
This year, with a new AD, my Varsity coach and I started designing new uniforms in case we got approval. She made it seem like she was going to ask for both Varsity and JV uniforms. She also knew exactly how bad my uniforms are — three years old, seams splitting, stains, missing gems, skirts riding up, and the attached shorts underneath being almost skin-colored, which has caused complaints from both players and parents. All 20 uniforms are in poor condition.
While I was still gathering a few more quotes to present to the AD, she went to him for approval. Since she’s the head of our program, I didn’t think she would leave me completely out of the conversation — but she did. The AD approved Varsity’s new uniforms (even though theirs are only a year old) and didn’t realize JV needed them too. By the time I followed up, it was too late — she beat me to the punch.
I’ve sent the AD 63 photos of the damage and asked for advice. I’m frustrated — it feels like Varsity’s needs were prioritized, even though my players’ uniforms are in far worse shape.
What would you do in my situation?
