Every one talks about how this is the worst time to deliver news. It seems that no matter what the news is everyone says its terrible time. So when is a good time to release big news. I feel all news should be released by the end of February. Its enough time for teams who do early tryouts to start to plan for the next season.

I would think even early March would be fine.

I think early March, mid March at the latest, would be the best because the season is winding down and tryouts are on the horizon. Cheer in many gyms is a year round sport so you can't wait until the season is over to release information for the next season, it needs to be done before the season is over.

Here is something that I find tricky though. I know that the seasons are different for the international teams and they often times get the bid for worlds almost a year before worlds comes around, but can't that become a conflict with the release of information? The age for the international division hasn't "offically" changed yet but we know it will, since that age is different then those teams that have already won bids for the 2013 worlds will possibly have won it while having an underage athlete on the mat. This isn't their fault at all because they couldn't control the rule change, but it seems like it can be a conflict for them as to replacing those athletes now.

ztaprincess It's complicated, in Aus when teams win bids they win a bid for the team, not necessarily for the athletes. We have the option to defer a bid for a year because of the expense, eg win a bid at nationals in November 2011 and attend worlds on that bid in 2013. We are not required to submit our rosters of athletes on the floor at the bid winning competition in the same way as the US. Teams often hold tryouts again closer to the date to pick their worlds team according to who has kept their skills, new talent, injuries etc, a year and a half is a long time after all. The rosters don't change hugely but there is some change. I don't think that changing the international age will affect more than a handful of athletes worldwide. But I could be wrong.

BowCat thank you for explaining that. I didn't know that they could defer their bid like that, but it makes sense sort of since the seasons are so off in other countries and the expense.

You're welcome :) I still think you should come spend a season with us, first comp is end of June! You still have time to make it down here!
