Recently I've picked up this habit of my arm giving out on me while doing my bhs. It's my left arm and every time it just gives out on me. My high school coach thinks I'm either not pushing off on that arm or it's a mental block because I broke it doing a bhs before. But earlier on in the year I never had that problem and I broke my arm years ago. What do I do because I'm tempted to tape a ruler to it and see what happens because it frustrates me.

My cp was having the same problem..make sure your arms are by your head and hands not turned out. She could not get it until a coach grabbed her arms and put them by her head and then pushed, he couldn't push her arms down. But when he had her put them apart with hands out, they buckled immediately. It seems to have helped her a lot.

When you
thanks!

I was thinking that's what I needed to do. Another reason I'm going to stop doing high school cheer, I pick up so many bad habits from not doing certain things like handstands and such.

Sometimes we get too comfortable with a skill to quickly before good muscle memory is learned and fall into some bad habits. When we are having trouble on more difficult skill the rule of thumb is to work on your basics and the drills for the skill.
