All-Star Unusual Fundraisers

this has nothing to do with cheer, but at my high school the freshman are currently blasting justin bieber through the intercom during passing periods and ppl pay money to make it go off and when it gets to a certain amount they will stop playing JB hahah its very strange.
My high school did a similar fundraiser, except it was with MMMBop by Hanson. They wouldn't stop playing it until they had filled an entire school bus full of clothing to be donated. It was really successful, but that song is just wretched.

What are some unique ways that your team has come up with to raise money? We all know about car washes, etc. - what are some of out-of-the-box ideas that have worked?

CA is trying something different for it's international coed team. They are auctioning off one of their NCA Jackets that has been customized.

NCA CHAMPIONSHIP ALLSTAR CHEERLEADING JACKET, VERY,VERY RARE!!!! | eBay

I am curious if anyone else has had success with anything that we may not have thought of yet.
that jacket is BEAUTIFUL!! great idea!

It wasn't for cheer, but I know a group that auctioned off dates for the single parents/adults with single bachelors & bachelorettes. :)

flamingoing!!
athletes, parents or coaches pay money to have either the coaches or board parents houses to be covered with those fake pink flamingos, signs, balloons and other embarrassing objects (kinda like a less harsh version of tee-peeing)

and then they pay to have it moved to another house...

Rent a Senior!
We do these at my school :) It's basically auctioning off the entire senior class (or team(s) in this case.) Then the seniors have to do whatever the buyers want. Examples: buying them some candy, hanging out with them, sitting with them at lunch (or a comp.)

A couple of years ago my team did a Crab Feed, we bought crab and used a restaurant that donated there time and charged 40.00 per head and made about $7000 . Message me for details! =)

Don't know how much money it raised, but we just had jars with all the coaches faces pasted on them for a couple of weeks and kids brought change from home to fill the jars of whatever coach they wanted "pied" in the face with a real pie. You could pay 1.50 to whip cream pie the other ones. All of the girls loved it. Loved showing that bill they were getting ready to stick in their coach's jar, too, just before they slammed the money in and went laughing like hyenias out the door after practice.

Never done that at our gym, but at work we do silly manager-related fundraisers every year for charity. One year it was "kiss the pig", where groups donated money and the highest-donating groups got to see their manager kiss a real pig. Another year, it was "dress your manager" where the highest-donating groups got to dress their manager up in some outrageous outfit, and then have that picture plastered all over the floor for a day.

Good times, as long as your group doesn't win. :)

Along these same lines, rent a dunk tank and charge to attempt to dunk the coaches. You will be amazed at how many PARENTS will pay good money for this unique opportunity. :)

Also, I have heard of gyms that auctioned off old competition trophies and brought in quite a bit of cash. Memories.

Years ago we did a "talent show" (no cheerleading moves were allowed) it was fun, made money and got "non-cheer" friends into the gym, it made money and was so much fun. Kids did skits, sang songs etc. etc. Senior parents had to participate and it was a blast. Also depending on your states legalities "casino nights" have always been a HUGE success!

I don't know if it'll ever happen, or even if it's legal, but I'm waiting for the first all-star cheer squad to be "sponsored" by a large company and have the company logo prominently displayed on the team's uniform when they take the mat. Like an MLS or EPL soccer jersey.

Our gym's fundraising isn't really out of the box, but it's pretty effective. Besides the annual competition we host, we do a variety of traditional paper fundraisers (everything from flowers to donuts) and as mentioned above, offer to work arena/stadium concessions.

Epic Cheer's Worlds 09 Junior team was sponsored by Curl by Sammy Duval...The store was funded by the person who owns our gym so he could ride it off on his taxes...but the front of the shirt was their logo...Ill try to find a pic

My old school did this but they got a new principal and it got banned because he considered it to be slavery.
