I disagree. Cheer can be for everyone. There are so many different options. Sideline, Rec, school, even varying degrees of all star. There are many gyms in my area that go to smaller local competitions and the music, uniforms, etc don't have to be custom and their teams can still be competitive on that circuit. They are successful in their own right and don't go to Worlds, Summit, NCA, UCA, etc. Not everyone involved in cheer has to go to Worlds or Summit!! It the same way in most sports. I showed horses for more than 20 years. I will never get to the World Championships because I can't afford the trip, the trainer, or the type of horse it takes to be competitive there. As much as I would love to experience it, the fact that I have never been hasn't tainted my experience showing at the smaller shows throughout my childhood. I only did school gymnastics as a kid because my family couldn't afford to do anything else. I turned out ok regardless of the fact that I didn't participate in the "end all be all" of either activity that I was involved in. Yes, there are "have and have nots" in all aspects of life, including cheer. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
