Very convenient.. Varsity CEO leaves.

Wait what, where did you read Adam Blumenfeld left?!! Or, are you referring to Jeff Webb who was Chairman and is now going to focus on ICU?

As far as the lawsuits, the original lawsuit that was filed around May 2020 that demanded a jury trial was dropped by Fusion Elite voluntarily pretty quickly after it was opened <Law 360: Cheerleading Gym Drops Antitrust Suit Against Governing Org>. A week later, Fusion Elite and Fuel Athletics opened a case <Class Action article> again stating, Cheerleading is expensive, they have an exclusionary scheme, they own 90% of the AS events and 80% of the AS apparel market. They go on to state AS competition events are basically market trade shows where Varsity forbids or strictly restricts its AS rivals from their showrooms. It also states, Varsity , in their Family Plan requires the largest All-Star gyms, to buy apparel exclusively from the defendants and to fill the limited number of events in each competition season solely with Varsity’s All-Star competitions. Around the same time, a new lawsuit was filed in July that was opened by cheer families <AP article>. I can find nothing further on these lawsuits, but generally these types of Corp lawsuits are settled or dropped quietly without much impact to the masses. Penree (USASF Board of Director Nov 2012-Nov 2016) and Stangle (USASF director of rules and safety) both have experience with the USASF, and it makes sense they are stepping in temporarily until someone else is found.

There's a lot of movement and new direction going on in almost every industry with the impact of COVID19 and Corporate governance. Not to brush aside or take away from these small business owners or cheer families, but in comparison to the financial impact of C-19, these lawsuits are gnats in the midst of a hurricane.
