In October, the New York Times published an article examining allstar cheerleading and Varsity’s influence in the industry.

In November, Varsity’s president released an open letter, in what appeared to be a response to the negative coverage from the article.
Now - Jeff Webb, Varsity’s founder, speaks out to the cheer community in his own open letter.
This response is stated to be “a “love letter” to cheer families, and emphasized that he wanted to speak directly to the families at the heart of cheerleading.“
