I think he should have named the show Gar or something like that. A catfish is actually a good catch. Name it after a worthless fish you have to just throw back.
This was a quote in the movie:
They used to tank cod from Alaska all the way to China. They'd keep them in vats in the ship. By the time the codfish reached China, the flesh was mush and tasteless. So this guy came up with the idea that if you put these cods in these big vats, put some catfish in with them and the catfish will keep the cod agile. And there are those people who are catfish in life. And they keep you on your toes. They keep you guessing, they keep you thinking, they keep you fresh. And I thank god for the catfish because we would be droll, boring and dull if we didn't have somebody nipping at our fin.

That was stated by the husband of the woman that had "catfished" Nev.

I never saw the movie. In fact I hadn't heard about it until Instarted watching the show. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the show!! It is proof to me there ARE people that are more gullible and have worse instincts than I do!!

Have a nice day!

I love that Angela's husband adapted the term catfish as an Internet poser.

The thing I like about Catfish, besides the fact that it's fascinating, is how kind Nev and Max are. They are always sweet, telling the Cod how nice they look when they go to meet the Catfish. I don't think the show would be as good if they weren't so sweet.

I'm a huge documentary nerd, I've seen most of the documentaries on Netflix and Hulu.

It's true. Their likeability is what really makes the show work. They also don't make the people feel stupid for believing and falling in love with the other person when they live 10 minutes away from eachother and have only texted for 2 years between the hours of 1 and 5 AM ;)

Yes, on that episode I would have been all, girl, let me hold your earrings. They were like, oh come to the car, take a breath.

To those of you who see me as a fool...I want you to know that I really am not. I am just a person who inherently believes in the good of others...ya know a "glass half-full" kind of gal. I have learned my "on-line catfish lesson" but I really don't want to be suspect of everyone I talk to. I don't want to change who I am and how I see the world...just because a girl took advantage of a person being kind. She took my friendship for granted which really makes her the biggest fool of all.

I can't speak for everyone, but I've never thought that of you.

I never once thought of you as that!!! I always thought you were someone who had good info and liked your posts!

To those of you who see me as a fool.

After hours and hours of reading and studying all the post, I have to say that I completely understand your pain.

I, myself, have made many close friends online. I have opened up to these people more than people in my 'real world'. I would be totally devastated if one of my friends proved to be untruthful about themselves. I would then (even at my age) always be wondering if 1) someone I knew put them up to it. 2) has this 'friend' just been laughing at me all along and 3) who all now knows everything I said to them.

So no, I do not think of you as a fool.

Now, finding love online, I really don't see as a good idea.

Have a nice day!

SNARK ALERT: Full J-a-M snark ahead.

I could shimmy this over and over. :shimmy: People love to be "in the know" and point out that they've been on the boards since "before (insert dramatic moment here)" I'm not really sure why it's such a feather in people's cap to know a "secret", but maybe that's because I can't keep a secret for 5 minutes. (So everyone make note - don't tell me anything.) And whenever something does come out, everyone lines up to say "Oh, just in case you all didn't catch it in my veiled post earlier, I already knew this. Before. You. Did."

Sorry, I'm just now getting around to reading this thread. I just have to ask (and I only quoted you because you said it so clearly, but I think many others have said basically the same thing)...if y'all are so tired of rehashing it, WHY WHY WHY do y'all keep referencing it??? No one joins Fierceboard and just randomly asks about whoadeedle. They sign up and then someone who was around back then makes some veiled, inside-joke-like comment about it, and then the person asks "Um...what?" I just don't get it - if everyone is so tired of talking about it, why is it brought up at least once a day?

(which is why I hadn't read until now - I was trying to ignore it, but every time I log on, there's this thread, staring at me O_O )

You make a good point......lmao.......I don't know why. I will definitely make sure I am not referencing it and hopefully we won't have any more threads where we have to talk about it again. (I don't control everybody though so making no promises how that is going to go. LOL) I'm just afraid this is one of those stories that will go down in the history books as never being over. Her commitment to coming back reveal after reveal after reveal doesn't help either. LOL

I am quickly coming to the conclusion the more people that complain about a post, the longer it has life!!

I believe complaining is what these threads use to survive!!
