I just wish she would move on:mad: ...AMANDA if you are on this board now and have talked to me or shimmied me, I will hunt you down and commit you to psychiatric ward and right after that I will post your real name, phone number and all your aliases and then have a chat with your parents.

Did anybody see the deedle/catfish esque story about Manti Te'o that came out today? He's a really good football player and days before one of his best games this season his grandmother died and then his girlfriend died also. It came out today that this girlfriend didn't die and didn't even exist. He was in an online relationship which he thought was genuine, but it was actually one of his male friends (who is a pastor  ), not the girl he believed it was. The fact this happens so often in our society is so messed up. Here's a link if anyone is interested: USA TODAY

I was JUST about to post this! I think he's now the King of Catfish!

I myself have had a catfish like relationship, but it ended up being real. When I was 15 I met this 17 year old Chase, through facebook friends of facebook friends blah blah. We started talking and yes we did skype so I know he's real. I also know he is real because he is a professional hockey player in Canada. ;) but people who havent had a frienship with someone online need to realize it happens a lot.

Please don't call me crazy for that story

Does he have any single friends? Haha, just kidding. sorta.

You're not crazy!! I have met some of my best friends online and even a guy I almost dated.

But yours is not a catfish. A catfish is when the person you are talking to is fake. They steal pics and identies to meet people.

You are lucky!! Hope all works out for you!

Have a nice day!
Love,
l

so i know this issue has seen its moment in the sun, and some people are losing interest. however, since i was personally involved with this 'nicole' girl and was close with her over the summer and a lot of my friends recently asked me about it (and because not a lot of light has been shed on the subject), i just wanted to offer some information.

this summer i was asking my friends on twitter to do a group chat, and the aforementioned 'Nicolle_Says' account asked to join- i, being more trusting then than i am now, agreed. she and i along with other friends talked, until her and one other individual started our own. she then proceeded to spin tales about how she was on shooting stars, was filthy rich and was dating current cheer phenomenon carson rapsilver. since most of these were verified by FierceSport, i believed it to be true. she even invited me to her brownstone penthouse in manhattan, but as time passed she said she couldn't let me stay with her, and she moved on to more popular cheer friends.

however, one of my friends (a cheerleader at world cup) had heard of her but said she was not on stars and never was. i continued talking to nicole, but was wary of what she said.

later in november, i went and visited my friend in new jersey, and tried to arrange a meet up with nicole. she ignored all my calls as well as my friends, so we grew more suspicious. after asking people on stars directly, it turns out she was never on the team at all. confused, we asked FierceSport directly if she was real. she turned grave and started insulting me saying i was spreading rumors, was a horrible cheerleader and that if i continued she would publically humiliate me. i simply laughed it off and deleted nicole's number.

fast forward to recently when suspicions reached their peak and people began to accuse nicole online. i spoke to another friend of mine and she had learned that her true identity was whoadeedle. i saw nicole post an 'eight grade graduation' photo and replied making a snarky comment out of spite, and she promptly texted me in anger. i called her out on her lies, said 'have a nice life whoadeedle/zta/whoever you are' and never got a response.

bottom line, don't trust any cheerleaders you meet on twitter unless you've seen/met them in person hahaha. it's a crazy world with crazy people so be safe and be smart!
