Not one that is practically a BHS but higher.

Not a laytuck. Or whipout.

The purpose of the hdaughter's o get kids comfortable twisting. I went to a program a very long time ago where they would not let you move on without landing a half perfectly and they all had beautiful fulls, including myself! In my opinion you should not just throw a full and see what happens. They are two very different skills, but I see what ya mean.

I definitely agree with you on the half-twist before full twist... My daughter and all my daughter's friends who are still doing gymnastics, started with half-twist on the floor and got use to the twisting motion with the landing and then moved to the pit for full twisting skills and many worked on the twisting technique without landing in the pit and then moved to the floor when able to consistently land full on feet in the pit. Now, most of my daughter's friends are working doubles and doubles with added half twist.

I CRINGE. Deep in the depths of my being. Everytime I see fulls that were clearly begotten from Mother Layuck. The fact that I actually have to sit there and root for your face to NOT beat your feet to the ground is a problem.

Not only that, but I've heard that it's much safer and easier to get out of a full gone wrong if you can save yourself by completing a half and landing.

A girl on my team started doing halfs by herself because she wanted a full, and she was stuck with a SUPER high crazy half that she always flew out of for 2 years... lots and lots of carpet burns. But on a good note, this past season she snapped out of it and now can do beautiful fulls!

There was a program lots of our kids came from all at once a couple years back where they had all learned halfs, and they all had "blocks" i guess you would say?? for fulls. they were all stuck with super high over powered halfs. But, I have only learned a full once so I wouldn't be able to say the best way to learn. I also learned 9 years ago so maybe that has something to do with it idk

I also did not just throw a full to see what would happen.. i was spotted until I could throw it alone :)
