non topic but im really excited this is gonna be my really first full season of loving cheer! I got into Cheer summer of last year and missed tryouts so I'm tittaly excited about what teams there are going to be this season!!

Personally I don't care whether you put yourself in large senior, small senior, small coed, or volleyball. Do as you please. I am nobody to tell you that you shouldn't go into a division, I just don't quite understand the rationale behind taking a senior restricted team to Worlds in that division just because you're guaranteed finals. I still fail to understand why Cheer Tyme Love didn't go medium? I get that maybe you go for the experience and the challenge of large senior but honestly I think it was dumb of their coaches to keep them large when that team had a legitimate shot at a globe in medium.
Idk.. Personally I fail to ever understand the point of going to Worlds just for the experience. If your goal is making it to semi-finals, great. If your goal is finals. Great. If your goal is podium. Great. But if your goal is to go to Worlds and have fun? Personally, I think you're better off saving the money. And I know you can say "maybe some peoples' goals are to go to Worlds," and I fully understand. I've been in the position where my goal was to just compete at Worlds, but after competing at Worlds, I can honestly say I wouldn't ever plan to go compete there again if there was no end goal. But it's not my decision what people do with their teams. If I were a coach, I'd have a hard time convincing myself to take a team with no shot at even semi-finals to Worlds, but that's just me.

I think people "run from" that division because it is hard to field 36 true level 5 girls. While the difference between medium and large seems small, it's much easier to field 30 girls and have a few that are borderline level 5 (only have straight fulls).
Totally off topic: I just wish they would bring back small coed (AKA large limited). :cloud9: I miss seeing SOT, Rays, and T&S in that division (the whole division really).

What I LOVED about that division is that it forced teams to have many girls who were at the same level as the guys, and not just 1 or 2. 8 guys on a team of 30 can carry a team better than 4 on a team of 36 can, and I always loved seeing the number of girls who could easily hold their own beside the guys on the team, as compared to now you see many, if not all of the girls throwing fulls, but your only combo to doubles, standing fulls, and standing to double, come generally from the boys (of course this isn't necessarily the case on a few of the top teams but still)

I'm going to post one more time before getting seriously annoyed at the amount of people acting like I said CT, KC, and NJSE SHOULD NOT BE IN LARGE SENIOR. I said they "could have found a much more comfortable home in medium senior," and the large majority of my annoyance/reasoning for the posting is that for the past 2 seasons, the amount of times I have seen people get so angry that CT Love or KC Cheer wasn't included when we discuss globing at Worlds is far too high for me to count, and I just get annoyed with the amount of people not being realistic. Never once did I say that a team SHOULD NOT join a division, I said a team COULD HAVE found a better fit in another division. So all of you posting acting like people, myself included, ever said that no one other than CA, Rays, WC, and CEA SHOULD ever join large senior, take a break from Fierceboard, learn to comprehend someone's posts, then kindly come back as you please.

So, I guess this is the year of "everyone tries out for everyone." I'm probably a minority here, but something doesn't sit right with me when I hear about all of these KIDS moving multiple states away to try out for a team. I'm all about following your dreams, especially once you have graduated high school, but a solid education should be any parent's first priority for their child, not cheerleading. I'm also sensing the growing trend that many high school graduates are shaping the next chapter of their lives more so around cheering for their dream all-star cheerleading team than attending their dream college, and that is a bit disheartening, too.

Cheerleading is a fun lifestyle and an incredibly important part of all our lives. However, in the near future, no one will have a lucrative career as a competitive cheerleader or compete in the Olympics as a cheerleader. It makes a bit more sense when you hear about gymnasts, ice-skaters, swimmers, etc. missing out on a traditional education because there IS the possibility of going pro, earning millions of dollars, and having doors opened into other professional arenas. Sadly, no employer in the real world will ever care that you won the Champions League, NCA, Worlds, or all three combined.

Is there a "Womp" trophy? I think I just won it.

The thing is, when kids spend that much time and money on an activity they most definitely should do whatever it takes to fulfill their dreams. It's not like they can ever go back and be on a senior team that has a chance to win worlds once they've aged out. They only have a small window in which to achieve their dreams so in my opinion they should go for it!

Not sure if you're referring to my post, but if so that wasn't what I was trying to say. I don't disagree with you that CT Love had a better chance at globing in medium than they did in large. They did. I also agree that it's frustrating when parents and athletes come on the board angry that their team isn't being discussed as a contender because they can't objectively see that there is a realistic reason that is happening.

My point was mainly that I can understand the rationale behind deciding you want to be competitive in the Large Senior division and deciding to compete there even if, for the first few years, you won't win or even globe. I think because of the nature of the competition in that division it is a good way to gain experience and eventually build your way toward being able to hang with the big dogs. I also think it positively contributes to the potential growth of a division that, a few years ago, we all thought was fading out.

Regarding ct love not going medium, obsession (from their Mechanicsburg gym) was medium this year, so that would make sense to me as to why they stayed large--however I think obsession would have had more luck as a stronger team (overall--this was their first year since 2010 to move past prelims!) going back to small, and love going medium and making a restricted 5/j5. But I do love that more teams are in LAG. I just hope their talent pools deepen and they get stronger as the years go on so eventually they can be true contenders.

I had a mild obsession with them back in like 09/10 (hence my avatar that I've never changed lol) and I watched like every video from Cheersport over and over and somehow I still remember most of the teams from that.

And they probably would have had a chance to win Worlds on a senior team if that team was in the "appropriate" division.

I applaud people for taking on a challenge, but I also like to win. And when the closest you get is when all the other teams fall apart, I don't know if that's really a 'victory.'

In regards to Worlds- how is it any different than the Super Bowl? The Olympics? Six Nations, World Cup, any other 'World Competition.' The Patriots had one of if not the winning-est season in NFL history, and all that people care about is that they lost to the Giants. Mustafina won a number of medals at the Olympics, but nobody cares because she didn't win the all-around. It's sucky, but EVERY sport has a be-all, end-all final competition which (unfortunately) defines the entire 'season.'

As much as I'd love to see a LAG team from Cali, I don't have high hopes. Who would they compete against? I wanna say all but one or two LAG teams are on the east coast. Cali rarely travels out of state or to other states that could support LAG teams. Their closest team would be Panthers, who are still really far away. I feel like that reason right there is a big factor of why they wouldn't have one.

I'd love to see more LAG teams out West. I would love to see CheerForce, SOT, Woodlands have one/bring their's back. I'd love to see Top Gun have one too as well as Ultimate Athletics and ECE and ACE.

There are no other large coed teams on the west coast, right? But they still have one.

Wouldn't it just be PCM on the west coast for LAG? Or are they not having that team again?
