The thing about more 'robotic' dances is, you can make them look cleaner. While many other teams do dances that look 'fiercer' to some, if synchronization is part of the score sheet, and your girls aren't all hitting their 'fierce' in the same way, it doesn't matter how "great" they look to us if they're not hitting the score sheet. SE has at various points out-scored F5, SS, and Panthers. Basically everyone. I don't know if they outscored Orange last year (can't remember), but Orange is the other team who is often accused of 'stiff' dances. If you don't like the way the score sheet is interpreted, get new interpreters.
I will say- their tumbling looks SO good. Higher, tighter, cleaner, straighter legs, kit and caboodle. I am pleased. I'm pretty sure this is a rather young team, so I'm not expecting greatness at the first swing.
Side side note: if you judge SE for the season from Showcase, you're a darn fool. I'd wager a third of that routine might change by their first comp. Same goes for Panthers. It feels more common in large senior than in other divisions, not sure why.
