Yes, they are franchising the main MW (which was just sold) after the season has already started with the new Woodlands location that just opened close by. Some of these families just bought uniforms no less than a month ago… so it took me by surprise. Its an area that has pretty much been run by MW for 20 years. There are three D1 gyms in NKY, one about 20 min N in Dayton and now Stingrays and Woodlands 5 min apart. Just interesting that they’d ditch a 20 year history mid-season to sell and hitch to a big name gym.

I have ties to the area and try to stay in the loop just in case my little decides to cheer one day *crosses fingers*

Random question, how close in proximity are all these new Cincy area gyms to places in KY like GymTyme? I know the two areas are closed but I wasn’t sure how close.

Louisville and Cincinnati/NKY are a good hour and a half apart, and honestly the traffic makes it a complete nightmare that I can't imagine anyone doing it unless it was a worlds situation.

However, Cincinnati is on the river, so it's a walk across the bridge to Northern KY. Any gym in NKY could be within minutes of Cincinnati.

Dan still has a location, Matrix in Richmond KY (D2 gym)...south of Lexington. Wonder what he's planning do with it. I'm out of the loop since we left 2020 season end.

Mergers and acquisitions usually happen with the first request being from the business owner wanting to sell or needing to sell. MW most certainly would want to get something for their business versus just shutting the doors on their staff, customers and losing everything. As far as timing, you can plan things to work out at a certain time, but legalities such as a lease on a building, or loans where the building was used as collateral, etc, etc can hold up the transaction. Lastly, Cincinnati may not be huge, but it is definitely big enough for two big name gyms to acquire and create new athletes especially with Dayton not being that far away.

    Midwest had:
    - Lady Carnage (S6)
    - Bad Babes of Bedlam (S5)
    - Masters of Mayhem (S3)
    - Havoc (J4)
    - Total Chaos (Y3)
    - Delirium (J2)
    - a Y2 (?)
    - a mini 1 (?)

Hopefully they get better names clearly someone was angry when they picked those. They used to be cat names. For like ever.

Gyms aren't randomly opening up a new location in another state. They are taking over an already existing program (or part of a program) that wants to sell, break away, etc. It's strange if there's a Woodlands and Stingrays literally 5 mins apart, but whatever those two programs used to be called (someone tried to explain all the Midwests in Ohio to me and it was just total confusion) must have already been fighting for the same kids, so this will be nothing new for them. But yeah, I'm curious how it's worth it for Stingrays and/or Woodlands to bother doing this, but it must be profitable. You don't have to have Worlds teams to make money.

Lol I'm trying to decide which name I think is funniest on this list.

Woodlands opened a new program, in a brand new facility and pulled about half of MW paying athletes at tryouts and multiple coaches.

MW’s owners sold what was left of the gym last week and the new owner franchised and took over that facility. MW’s worlds team is free…so there is no income from that group.
