I cheered for GymTyme, but not for UofL my freshman year. I liked it, but only stayed a year. My interests and friends changed, and I got more and more involved with my sorority and clubs on campus. UofL's finals week is during worlds, and I celebrated the night of winning worlds by studying in my hotel room. I had a 4 AM flight to make my final by 9:00. Wild times!
Don't let other people's experiences persuade you. I was personally someone who struggled to find a balance, but others LOVE doing it. I still wouldn't give my freshman year at GT up for anything. It was an amazing experience! I would recommend all-star for a year or two, but also think it's important to keep your options open to try other activities in college as well. Good luck with school!
