I can't tell if this is a joke or not... but yeah, pretty much one of the only threats to Biles in vault is Hong Un Jong from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea). She regularly competes both an Amânar and a Cheng, though, not with very consistent results:

No, I was serious. I didn't really think they let anyone leave the country to compete internationally. I guess that was a really stupid thought on my part, but I guess it's surprising that anyone from that country would be any good.

I'm almost certain they only excel in vault (both men and women), here's Ri Se-Gwang from the same World Championships last year:

Though for men's vault, it can honestly always go to any of the finalist, because the ones with the highest difficulty scores tend to also have very inconsistent execution of the vault like Ri Se-Gwang, Yang Hak Seon (South Korea) and Denis Ablyazin (Russia). I mean, the fact that he won at a cost of incurring (what appears to be) an injury goes to show how ridiculous it was for him to even attempt the vault.

North Korea has a gymnastics team?

I don't think they have a "team" team as much as they have gymnasts compete in events.

In fact I don't remember them ever having a qualifying team at the Olympics

They were banned in 2012 though....for cheating by lying about ages

Barring something big in training camp, I think Kyla may have taken herself of the World team this year with her lackluster performance this week. She of course has the experience, but it was just not there in Indy. We'll see what Marta decides to do.

I think so too, but honestly it might be good for her. She seems exhausted/injured and like she needs a break to rest and get her strength back up.

The men's worlds team was announced

Danell Leyva, Sam Mikulak, Alex Naddour, Paul Ruggeri, Donnell Whittenburg and Brandon Wynn.

First alternate: Chris Brooks, Second alternate: Marvin Kimble

Jake Dalton petitioned for a spot on the team without competing this weekend. The committee said they considered him as if he was "completely healthy", so I'm really surprised he was left off. He was supposed to be full speed in 2-3 weeks. He needed surgery he was going to put off until after Worlds, but now that he's off the team he's going to have it earlier.

USA Gymnastics names men's team for world championships

I think Martha's standard keep them winning, but the men's style is likely better for their overall health.

but men can also have longer careers in gymnastics than women can. If you make it to the elite level, you're likely aiming for one olympic games between the ages of 16-20 depending on when you were born. Aly and Gabby are outliers; Women's careers usually don't last that long (if they make it to Rio.) The men have time to rest and rehab their injuries because they can aim for 2 or 3 different olympic games in their lives.

You could also argue that adopting the men's method could keep women in the sport longer, but I don't think it would. You take a day off, lose a skill, and the next best girl takes your spot. Also taking too much time off could push their body fat percentage up 1%, cue puberty, hormonal changes, growth, etc. that does cause a huge loss of skills or a lot of time lost trying to re-learn your skills.

Exactly; that is the trade off. Men don't have to do what the women do, so why do it? Sure they'd win more, perhaps, or they'd suffer the same amount of damage to their bodies and be permanently out of the sport faster. Like you said, and I agree, women basically have 1 chance---men have more.

I really wish people wouldn't try to ruin people's lives until they've been charged. Even if he's innocent; his career is over.
I agree. If he's charged (which I'm assuming he will be) string him up. But until then I wish it could be kept under wraps. But unfortunately that's the world we live in.

I obviously hope it's not true. Ugh.
