Maggie was supposed to be at Pac Rim so I'm holding out hope #5 was supposed to be there and she's it. ;) I don't know why I'm so emotionally attached to her, but I am.

Pac Rim
Simone 62.45
Aly 59.9
Laurie 59.8

AT&T Cup
Gabby 60.165
Maggie 59.699

Brenna and Ragan are in the 58 range for AA. Madison's bars are great but we're winning Team with or without her. Without her, I'd say the highest on UB we'd get would be bronze, though, so it's definitely a possibility of throwing her in there.

I like Maggie because she seems to have a fun personality and because her insta is SwaggieMaggie or something.....but if she isn't in Rio I won't be heart broken

I really like Ashton's bars. I just wish she had more to offer

I also like Ragan, and wouldn't be mad if she were #5. I think Marta really likes her and I think Marta has always liked having a powerful itty-bitty in her pocket

TBH I feel like I need to not focus USA because either way the team will be A1, and lift Romania up in prayer for the test event [emoji53]

I just don't want the team event to be a blow out this year

Also they showed the 3 yo from Ellen on the life stream last night (dk if she was on the televised broadcast)....but seriously...gag me with a spoon.

Agreed about Ashton. Her long legs make some beautiful bars but I don't think she has enough to offer.

Maggie tore her meniscus after under rotating her amanar at camp and she is out for 4 weeks.

I would love to see Ashton in Rio. My favorite bar worker ( if we don't count russians ofcourse ;) )

Also Amy Tinkler upgrade her floor and she is doing double double as a bar dismount. To bad she fell from beam twice at nationals:(

This week is test event and I am so scared Romania won't make it :( :( Laura Jurca and Larisa are both injured and I don't think they are strong enough to make it. The 12 they are getting for bars and not hitting their routines all the time is what it will really hurt them :(

Thoughts after PacRims:

I'm so emotionally exhausted watching Brenna. I think Marta was pulling for her to be the possible bars specialist since she's stronger on the other events than our current bar girls. But she's so inconsistent and I think this competition was the last straw.

I love Ashton on bars. I'm also pulling for her because she's a local girl - go NC! I think we will take a bars specialist to Rio and it will come down to who between Ashton and Madison can prove their worth on a second apparatus (probably beam). We probably wouldn't have to use them on beam but it's always good to have a solid second passable event - like McKayla. She was training for floor in addition to vault in 2012 before her injury at nationals.

I'm still not sold on Aly for Rio. She's good on floor and would probably make EF if she stays in bounds, but won't repeat gold. (Simone will win it, duh) And yeah she amanars, but it's super sketchy. If Maggie or Gabby bring back their amanars and Laurie or someone else can get one, I don't really think we need hers. Her beam scores are getting beat by the youngins, so that's not really a strong suit either. IDK man, the commentators for this seemed to think she was a lock for Rio and I still think she has a lot to prove. She could bring the leadership factor of course, so who knows.

I think Laurie proved a lot this week. I've currently got her on my Rio team (in pencil.....subject to change)

Donnell Whittenburg could eat Ragan Smith as a snack.

I think I'm more confused about my Rio team now. I do think Laurie snuck her way on. So maybe Simone, Gabby, Laurie, Maggie OR Aly, Ashton OR Madison.

Maggie had surgery on her meniscus and is out for 4-6 weeks. I personally think she's out for Rio, but we'll have to see how she looks this summer.

My Rio team after this weekend: Simone, Gabby, Laurie, Aly, and Madison Kocian. Ashton is really only useful on bars. She doesn't train vault and floor and her beam is not really good enough to be used. I think it's too risky for a 5-person team to take someone if they're really only competitive on 1 event. Madison does the AA so she can be used on every event if necessary and she's already proved herself at Worlds. I love Brenna, but she's too inconsistent.

Still hoping that Bailie comes out and kills it.

I REALLY hope they let Maggie fully rehabilitate. 4-6 weeks puts her right around nationals time. If they rush her back and she blows out a knee at nationals I WILL NEVER RECOVER.

I just watched the PacRim, and, WOW, our US women look like they are steroids compared to the rest of the women. (talk about muscles!) I'm wondering what is different in US training versus the training in other countries.

Yeah I noticed that a lot of the gymnasts from other countries were slender but didn't seem to have much muscle definition.

But I mean... China.

She is doing so well at the moment, really impressed with her work at the British Championships. Loved her floor routine, there aren't many British routines that can beat Claudia Fragapane's!

Speaking of the British Championships, Max Whitlock scored a 92.7 for his AA which probably isn't 100% accurate with what it would be at international events but still really promising with Rio fast approaching! He also scored 16.325 in the pommel final.

Whitlock is definitely a strong contender for an AA medal in Rio, an Uchimura upset? Plausible. In hindsight, I'm really glad Whitlock beat Smith in the PH finals because Smith went onto to Twitter right after to retweeted a bunch of tweets about how he should have rightfully won.

... he didn't even bother to remove them and even tweeted saying he was screwed over by the judges in his own country. Has he never heard of the saying, "be humble in victory and gracious in defeat"?

Clearly not.

Not impressed and kind of embarrassed for him to be honest, he should know better than to vent publicly like that. God forbid Louis doesn't make the Olympic team, he'll have a lot to say if that happens!

Max can do no wrong in my eyes, he stays focused, gets the job done and conducts himself well on social media. What's there not to like? I so want to see him medal in AA at Rio!
