I've always based flyers that jump in. I honestly don't think I've ever had someone step in to a basket before.

Jump in. My coach is very UCA style. As a back, I do prefer step in; it's easier to get from the waist to underneath the basket, but we rarely do them. But I've always done jump in, so I'm used to it.

I originally learned to jump in in high school, but then i learned how to step in, i find it sooo much easier and less scary....however in college now I have to jump in and once again i find baskets to be slightly scary again, and i feel like it caused me to not always have my butt up and my weight in my arms.

Step in... much easier and smoother for timing and flyers seem to have it easier to keep their butts up and get in sync with the bases.

I think it depends on preference and weirdly enough what basket I'm doing. When I did back tuck tosses I preferred to jump in but topping most everything else I stepped in. When I based I liked step ins for larger tops and jump ins for smaller.
