Hey! I'm going into 8th grade and just starting cheer. I'm coming from no experience at all:(. I'm planning on doing football season and competitive season. Tryouts are in the middle-end of August but everyone makes the team! I've never been so excited for anything in my life. I have my backend and I'm trying to get my backwalkover so I can be in round 1 of competitions. I have the basics like cartwheels, round offs, and I'm working on the jumps and counts. I'm also starting to stretch every morning and every night. But I have a few questions: what should I wear to tryouts? What should I be aware of? Does anyone have any tips? Thank y'all so much (:

What you're doing sounds great! For what you should wear: stretchy exercise clothes, probably shorts and a tshirt. Preferably wear your school colours or any school apparel you own.

At tryouts just try be really positive and cooperative, they want someone like that on the team :) Since everyone gets in I don't think you have much to worry about though. Good luck and have fun :)

Have you checked local gyms in your area? A lot have open gyms specifically to help get ready for tryouts. Sounds like your already getting yourself ready by stretching conditioning and working on jumping & tumbling skills which is great! Good luck! Sounds like you'll have a great year!

Yeah we have Elite Cheer in our area. I want to go there for classes but I'll have to ask my parents!

I believe it was a political message.. Or maybe it's about a movie. Or maybe i just don't speak enough Spanish either.
