right ..they are very religious so i dont see why they think this is okay?

They are not very religious. There motto was faith over fear I believe last year and the owner is christian, but that dosent mean they are very religious. I personally dont mind the religious theme, I was just taken back on the voiceovers especially the part saying Cali-freckin- jesus. It just made me feel a little uncomfortable when I heard it.

By your definition: "Speaking sacrilegiously of sacred things."
Sacred is wholly subective. If I said "Getting a cross tattoo is stupid" its not blasphemy because Im not christian so the symbol isnt sacred to me. To me its just a lower case "T".
However if a religious person bashed the sacred T it would be sacrilegious. Because their beliefs have placed importance on that symbol.

Religious symbols have significance because we give them significance.

I did policy debate in highschool. I learned fast that religion is not one of those things you debate because the is no solid case you can build on it. You should know this unless you're a silly Lincoln Douglas debater. You can't call someone out on religion. I find the routine offensive but I also respect your beliefs that its not to you. No one is trying to shove any thing down anyone's throat. So stay calm and only debate things you can build a solid factual based argument against.

I did extemp mostly and some pf.
I wasnt looking at this as a validity of religion thread, but more of a freedom of expressive rights without fear of negativity thread.

I dont believe in Islam, but I also dont complain when women are forced to compete in hijabs at the olympics.
In the same train of thought you may not like a mix with religious overtones, but as long as its not your team/child theres really no reason to make a big deal of something that isnt that serious.

Its not like they competed with a satanic theme or anything. And even then, not your kid, not your problem.

I cant stand people trying to use their own morality for a base from which all morality must be founded. Live and let live.

I was waiting for this to be brought up..

Personally I think its been taken way too far. There's different families on the team and the gyms of cali that I'm sure are offended by this. I feel like cali is just finding ways to push buttons in our industry.. califreakingfornia, cheergasm, now religious themes.

This is just my opinion I don't dislike cali. I think they're awesome. But personally this was taken a little too far

I really don't see the problem with their routine. In no way do I find it offensive. The part that I do find offensive, is the fact that people are criticizing them for expressing their 1st Amendment right, Free Exercise of Religion. I don't think that they would have done this routine if they did not have full parents consent, although they are old enough to have their own beliefs. In the bible, and yes Im referencing the bible because that is what our laws and rights are backed up by. It says(correct me if Im wrong) rejoice the lord in song and dance, cheerleading really is a big dance and their music is their song. So sing children sing!!!
