are cartwheel handsprings considered running tumbling? i have a few girls on a senior 2 team that have trouble connecting a roundoff and a handspring, but can cartwheel handspring perfectly!!
 
yes - from the USASF glossary:

Tumbling that is performed with a running start and/or involves a step or a hurdle (etc,) used to gain momentum as an entry to another skill. Any type of forward momentum/movement prior to execution of the tumbling skill(s) is defined as "running tumbling."

Note:
USASF considers that running tumbling in terms of safety guidelines/rules. Each company may have a different opinion on what that is counted as.

For instance. If you don't have any standing tumbling in your routine, and there are 2 cartwheel back handsprings in the jump section, a judge may consider that standing tumbling for the score sheet.
