Olympic Day is celebrated on June 23 every year all over the world!
The worldwide celebration aims to promote fitness, well-being, culture and education, while also observing the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect. The Olympic Day pillars – move, learn and discover – are promoted in every corner of the globe. Olympic Day creates opportunities for people to participate in sport across the globe regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.
In 2016, the ICU received provisional recognition for the sport of cheerleading from the IOC, opening the path to one day seeing cheer in the summer games. In 2017, USA Cheer—the governing body for cheerleading in the USA—had the opportunity to showcase the sport of cheer at the Pyeongchang Winter games, alongside representatives from Canada, Norway and Germany.
Another memorable day at the Winter Olympics where we performed at the speed skating event with Canada!
