sorry to bring back this thread after it's been dead for a few days, but i've been thinking about the response to recent attempts at cheer tv shows, and it gave me some questions about the kind of response a cheer book would get. it seems to me that the kind of tv show people want to see is a reality show rather than a fictional series, which makes me curious--for a book focused on allstar cheerleading, would you rather see a book about a fictional team, or something more like the book about college cheer that follows several top teams throughout their seasons?

which of the two would you rather read, and why?

I'd probably rather read a book about a real team. There's something I really like about reading and truly finding out what that team is about, and learning what each person on the team is like. It brings a whole new level of appreciation when you watch their routine and know all the success and failures that team went through. Although that doesn't mean I wouldn't read a fictional book either! I'd probably enjoy either.

There was a book that came out a few years ago called The Geek Girl's Guide to Cheerleading... It was kind of stereotypical, but cheer was the main plotline. It was so cliche I read it just for the laughs. But really, only read it if you want to read something that was done over and over and over in the past. :deadhorse:

Ugh I got that a few years ago. I have yet to finish it. I don't mind the plot but it was nothing special.

One of my stories involve a girl moving to a smaller beach town where there is a one sided rivalry between the cheerleaders and gymnast. Not because of the sports but because the town it girl doesn't like the head cheerleaders because she is dating her brother? The new girl who is gymnast who wants to cheer has to find her place amongst the two groups. I am just sure if it would add to the real life issues that the groups sometimes have.
